walking vs. dancing

Things Needed for:

walking
  • a reason to do it
  • a desire to start
  • time to do it
  • a safe place to do it, no music, safety first
  • an exercise buddy is always good for encouragement
  • proper shoes & clothing
  • the ability to put one foot in front of the other
  • gatorade/ water
  • knowledge and tolerance for slight soreness usually for a day or two

    dancing
  • no good reason to do it
  • a desire to embarrass yourself
  • time to go out somewhere
  • a fun and crowded place to do it with loud music
  • friends that pull you on the dance floor against your will and laugh at you
  • uncomfortable but cute shoes & stylish clothing
  • ability is for the birds
  • beer/ shots
  • knowledge and tolerance for the incredible pain that remains 4 days later because even you weren't aware your body could get that low

I went out Saturday, my thighs feel like I did power squats and leg presses w/o warm-up. My arms hurt and I have no idea why. Really I am not a bad dancer but this pain makes me feel I was doing something so very, very wrong.

Ah well, the good news is that I have lost some weight, not sure of the exact # of pounds and I am down 2 inches and 1 size in shirts and I think 2 sizes pants. I am still working out the kinks of a consistent walking schedule but I am almost there. More and better results to come.
